How we choose gifts

Our picks are our own

We choose every gift on GiftGuide.au because we think it's worth giving. No brand or shop can pay to be included, and none can pay for a better spot in a guide.

Ideas come from our own searching, from readers who suggest gifts, and sometimes from brands. A suggestion never guarantees a place.

Badges

Editor's Choice, Best Value and Aussie Brand Pick are awarded by our editors. Nobody can enter, apply for or buy one.

Aussie Brand Pick goes to gifts from Australian-owned businesses: brands run here, with an Australian Business Number, that tell us they are majority or wholly owned by Australian residents. It's about who is behind the gift, not where it's manufactured, so many of these gifts are made overseas. It is our editorial badge, based on the brand's own declaration, not an official certification.

Samples

We get samples from retailers, makers and distributors. Accepting one doesn't mean we'll feature it, and if a pick came from a free sample, we say so in its write-up.

Prices

Prices were right when we checked them, but shops change them. Check the price on the shop's own site before you buy.

How we make money

Some links in our guides and newsletters are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the shop may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never decides what we include.
